Everyone who works for a UW institution will be trained to use Workday, whether you’ll use the system to do your job or to manage your employment information, such as entering time and absences.
Training for all UW staff will begin in March 2025. Instruction and support will continue after Workday goes live in July 2025. As we get closer to Workday go-live, check this page often to find more details about training.
How You'll Be Trained
Training will be provided in the best format to cover each topic. You may be trained with one or more of the following formats:
- Job aids will include screenshots and step-by-step instructions for a specific task.
- How-to videos will provide short Workday demonstrations to complete a specific process.
- Computer-based training courses will be self-paced to complete when and where it works for you.
- Live webinars will feature online instructor-led demonstrations and Q&As. They will also be recorded for on-demand viewing.
- Instructor-led training courses will include demonstrations and hands-on practice in Workday.
How Training Will Be Developed
ATP’s training team assessed needs across the Universities of Wisconsin. Courses will be created with these guidelines in mind:
Just enough complexity: Training will focus on the new Workday processes and provide context to aid your learning.
Just in time: You’ll be trained close enough to go-live for you to remember what you’ve learned, and training will continue as Workday updates are implemented.
Just what you need: You’ll be trained for your assigned security roles in the system, to match your job responsibilities.
